The mission of Pope High School’s Counseling Department is to work in partnership with our stakeholders to fulfill Pope High School’s mission for each and every student. School counselors provide support for all students through a comprehensive, developmental program aimed at fostering academic, career, and personal/social skills in order to eliminate barriers to learning.  This pathway leads to the fulfillment of the common goal for every student which is achievement of extraordinary success.

The comprehensive school counseling program should:

v      consider the needs of all students, teachers, and families at Pope High School.

v      be based on needs assessments and the Cobb County School District’s counseling competencies for 9th-12th  grade.

v      be evaluated for effectiveness on an on-going basis.

v      have its mission, goals, and activities communicated to various stakeholders.

v      include certified professional school counselors who abide by the Professional Code of Ethics and participate as members and leaders in various professional development activities.

Junior College and Career Planning Booklet

The Counselors conducted a guidance lesson with juniors at the end of January in which we provided tools to help your students plan for post secondary options, whether career or college focused.  We gave each of them a substantial booklet entitled, "Greyhounds Going Forward" and reviewed the important topics with them.  The booklet contains valuable tips for conducting searches for college and other post secondary training, career interest inventories, SAT/ACT testing, writing college essays, recommendations, financial aid and more!  You may download a copy of the booklet here:
