State Qualifying Meet 2011

The Pope Varsity Gymnastics team finished a very respectable 8th (out of 36 teams) at the State Qualifying Meet.  They had a season high total of 103.475 points.  Alisha Rancone qualified for the State Meet with the second highest total in the state in the All Around competition.  She will represent Pope High School in the State Gymnastics meet on April 29 at Westminster. 

 

2011 Season is underway!

Pope Varsity Gymnastics is underway for the 2011 season.  Eight dedicated team members are practicing diligently and learning about gymnastics as a team sport.  We have added another coach this year, Ms. Stephanie LaManna, who was a former Level 10 gymnast before she began her career as a teacher and coach.  We are having fun getting to know each other and setting goals for this year's team. State Meet on Comcast Demand

Comcast is coming out to film all the action at the Georgia State Gymnastic Championships taking place  at Westminster.  All the action from the competitions will be captured and then made available for free on GHSA On Demand from Comcast.  Come out to the Championships on Friday, April 30 at 6:30 pm to cheer on the Pope GymHounds!  The cameras will be there so the fans will have the opportunity to be on TV as well!

Pope Gymnastics Team qualifies for State!

The Pope Gymnastics Team posted a school record of 106.825 to qualify for the State meet.  They edged out Alpharetta HS by .125 for the qualifying spot. It was a true team effort.  Several girls competed with injuries, but still gave it their best.  Milan Ivory qualified in the 1st position for the entire state with a 9.875 in Floor exercise.  Alicia Rancone and Rachel Suraco both posted personal bests in their all-around scores.  In addition, Alicia Rancone qualified for the individual titles in Vault, Beam, Bars, and the all-around.  Rachel Suraco, Kyla Guenzerodt, and Aubrey Claxton rounded out the team scores with their superior performances and team spirit!  Go GymHounds!

Spring 2010 Season begins!

The 2010 Georgia High School Gymnastics season is underway.  The Pope Gym Hounds are training and perfecting their routines.  So far, we don't have any major injuries so this season looks very hopeful for us.  We want to contribute to the Pope community by representing Pope well in competition this year.  We have set team and individual goals for this season!

Routine of the Week - March 30, 2009

Milan Ivory is this week's outstanding performer!  Milan knows what needs to be done and gets it done.  Her bar routine at this week's competition was a reflection of that!

Routine of the Week - March 23

Routine of the Week honors go to Rachel Suraco!  Rachel continues to give a solid performance on beam whether she leads Pope off on beam or whether she anchors the team, as she did this week!  Well done, Rachel!

Routine of the Week - March 16

This week's Routine of the Week honors goes to Courtney Campbell!  Courtney came through with a much improved floor routine this week.  Her hard work in the gym is paying off!

Routine of the Week!

In our first competition of the season, Routine of the Week honors go to two gymnasts.  Rachel Suraco's solid lead-off performance on beam and Kyla Guenzerodt's lead-off vault were instrumental in solid performances for Pope in these two events. Even though we have several injuries, our team pulled through and delivered a higher team score than we expected!  Way to go!

Season Begins!

The Pope Gymnastics team begins their season on Friday night, March 6, 2009, at the Kell HS Invitational.  Competition begins at 6 pm.  Come on out and cheer for the Gym Hounds!
