COMPUTER APPLICATIONS SYLLABUS
This course is designed to provide students with hands-on experience with computer applications including: (1) alpha/numeric keyboarding review (2) word processing applications, (3) spreadsheets applications (4) databases records management applications, and (5) software integration. Students will also explore online resources through a variety of Internet activities. Microsoft Office software is used in Computer Applications.
The following concepts will be explored:
Career planning and exploration
Major occurrences in the history of computers
Understanding the Windows format
Creating word processing documents in Word (MS Office)
Editing and formatting word processing documents
Creating spreadsheets using Excel (MS Office)
Using spreadsheet functions in formulas
Using spreadsheet data to create charts
Creating databases using Access (MS Office)
Manipulating data in databases to create reports
Student Responsibility
All assignments including printed documents must be in a 3-ring binder and include your name, block, date, and title of assignment. Place assignments with most recent dates on top. **Adhere to the school make-up policy.
Games, personal web pages, or personal e-mails will not be allowed.

DAILY WORK (Quality Grades) 50%
TESTS 30%
BUSINESS CHARACTER* 10%
FINAL 10%
*Business character consists of being on time to class, staying on task, cooperatively working with classmates, respect for peers, teacher, and school property, and responsibility for your own work (honesty).
*Any zero received due to cheating will NOT be dropped.
