Unit 5 - The Police: Part 2

Handcuffs

Policing Part 2 is a very interesting unit. Students are able to design wanted posters using a program called "Faces". This program is what some law enforcement agencies use when reconstructing a suspect described by the victim.  We use real police documents to introduce a real Incident Report, Accident Report, and Daily Observation Sheet that our local county police agency uses on a daily basis.

We are learning about the following law enforcement agency details:

  • Recruiting
  • Background Requirements
  • Training
  • Blue Curtain and Police Cynicism
  • Common Challenges to Policing
  • Types and Styles of Policing and Patrols
  • Reports and Legal Documentation
  • Mechanics of Arrests and Arrests with and without Warrants

Students, during this unit, please refer to the absentee folders in the classroom located on the student work table for all missed assignments as this particular post will not be updated daily.

Capital Punishement Project - Level 3

This project is an opinionated persuasive argument presentation either for and against the death penalty.  We use the case "The 15 year old Murder" as a backdrop, but students will need to reserach other cases, trials, supreme court deceisions, etc. to use as facts to back up or support their arguements/view points.  We will be in the media center to work in class on March 18th and March 30th but students are still expected to work out of class on their own time.
