AP BIOLOGY-Summer Assignments for Fall '09

Welcome to AP Biology!

For the summer assignment you will be reading about basic chemistry, water, organic chemistry/biochemistry from chapters 1-5. Chapters 1-3 should be review for you and 4 & 5 are on chemistry of living things. This helps to get this material out of the way to allow more time for the "biology stuff". You will have a test on these chapters the 1st day of school-Aug. 10. In addition to these links, take notes from your textbook as well. We will discuss the organic/biochemistry part in more detail when school starts.

Links to use for Summer Assignments:

Life's Levels of Organization watch short video clip, this is from ch. 1

Atoms and Molecules  Read the Learning Objectives at the end of the reading and answer all 22 as if they were questions-Ch. 2

Basic Chemistry Take quiz at end but do not submit, print out and turn in- Ch. 2

Properties of Water watch animation-ch. 2

Water and Organic Molecules  Answer the Learning Objectives as questions-all 13; chs. 2-5

Redox Reactions

Do the "GOT IT?" questions at the end of each chapter in the supplemental booklet called Structures of Life. There are 5 chapters to read.

All of the above are due the 1st day of school--AUG. 10!!!!!!

Have a great summer!!!!!!!!!!
