Chemistry: There are copies of my syllabus, class rules, and Ga Performance Standards for this course you can access using the links on the right side of the page.
Please note: The following information is just a general guide to what is happening in my classroom on the days listed, and is subject to change. Make sure if you are absent to still check with me when you return so you are sure of what you have missed.
Construction Update: I am currently floating to 5 different classrooms in the English department. As of right now it is projected that our regular chemistry lab room will be completed on Monday the 29th of August. On that date (unless it is postponed again) we will move into the room but the gas, water, etc will not be completed at that time so we will not be starting labs until everything is finished. This situation is unfortunate but unavoidable and our new room will be great when it is done!
Schedules by Unit: Click on the latest activated link and hit open for the current unit schedule. Please note these schedules are just a guideline and will be adjusted based on how well the students are understanding the material being studied.

As announced during classes today I will be out tomorrow due to surgery.
Basically to study for the test you need to go through your notes, preveious practice from class, and the CFA (which you have all the answers to) and do any additional practice that you feel you need. If you have any quick questions before school Ms Cotton (318), Ms Cummings (101), and Mr Hoover (218) will be happy to answer them.

Please click on the following link for the general unit plan for the Periodic Table Unit (10/18-11/3)(remember this is just a guidelineDownload Unit IV Periodic Table
**Schedule changes for the periodic table unit: Excel Trend Lab due Friday; CFA moved from Thursday (10/27) to Friday (10/28)
Click on the following link for the general lesson plan for the compounds and formulas unit (11/4 - 11/18) Download Compounds and Formulas Fall 2011 To be successful in this unit you MUST know your polyatomic ions and element symbols so please review these if you need to.
***There will be a one time re-take opportunity for the formula and compound test because it is vital to the success of the students to be able to do this. In order to re-take I need a completed form, the student must attend a review session (AM 11/18, 11/28, 11/29, 11/30, and PM 11/29), a parent email (if the student failed the test), and completed review work. The re-take is 7:15 AM 12/1 or after school 12/1. No other retakes will be given.
In order to be successful in this unit a student MUST know their polyatomic ions and the elements/symbols.

Spring Semester:
Click on the following link for the factor labeling schedule: Download Unit VIII Factor Labeling s2012 This is a tentative schedule. If the testing day changes it will be posted below. There is no powerpoint for this unit it is all based on a problem solving method. Some of this method is in chapter 5 of the book. Schedule changes:We will have the CFA on Friday 1/13, Quiz on Thursday 1/19, and the test will remain on Monday 1/23.
Click on the following link for the mole unit schedule (please remember this is just a guideline): Download Unit VIII Moles Spring 2012 I will post a Powerpoint below but it is just for additional help the notes do not follow the Powerpoint except for the section on hydrates.
Powerpoints for Units:
Download Atomic Structure and nuclear
Download Periodic Table Revised S08
Download Periodic Table Major Facts on Groups (additional notes for the periodic table unit)
Download Naming Compounds and Writing Formulas (Please note that the information on covalent bonds will be discussed in class and are not included on the Ppt)
Download Aqueous solutions (Please note that these notes are only for aqueous solutions and the general notes for balancing equations are on a handout and will be covered in class. Chapters 7 & 8 in your text can be used for reference.
Download 6moles (the notes do not follow this Powerpoint, this is just an additional reference)
Download Hydrates (the notes do follow this Ppt on Hydrates)
