Calling in for early dismissal of a student

If you didn't send a note to school with your child and are calling in to arrange for an early dismissal of your child, please call 770-578-7900 x251 and speak to a parent volunteer.  They will take all the necessary information and get a note to your child to meet you in PPO at the specified time.

Tardy Policy

The goals of the start on time policy are 1) to maintain an orderly learning environment 2) to allow the classroom teachers the maximum possible instructional time and 3) to help students develop the valuable lifelong habit of promptness and responsibility.  Students are to be in homeroom by 8:25.  From 8:25 to 8:30 homeroom teachers can mark students tardy.  After 8:30 tardy students must sign in at PPO.  If they have a note it will be excused; if there is no note it will be unexcused. The 7th unexcused tardy will result in a Saturday School.  Every 3rd tardy after that will also result in a SaturdaySchool.  Excessive Saturday Schools will require a meeting with the parents and Administrators.

Early Dismissal

Early checkout from school is discouraged. Students and parents should arrange medical and other appointments after school hours. When that is not possible, the parent should send a note to school with the student. The note should include:

  • The student's first and last name
  • Students ID & Grade
  • The reason for the early dismissal request
  • Parent's signature
  • Telephone number where parent can be reached during the school day to verify the checkout request  (If a student is driving or walking, a parent must be contacted.  If the parent or guardian cannot be reached, the student may NOT leave. If the student leaves after we inform him/her that we cannot verify the early dismissal, it will be treated as a class cut and disciplinary action will be taken.

The student brings the note to PPO before homeroom.  They will be given a slip to show their teachers to leave class at the necessary time.  The student then comes to PPO to sign out.  Failure to sign out correctly may result in disciplinary action.

For the safety and security of our students, identification is always required by anyone picking up a child.
