Basic Information
Pope High School has made a commitment to stand on three pillars: 1) Service, 2) Leadership, 3) High Student Achievement. Our goal is to serve others as leaders of Pope High School.
What we are doing and for whom?
We are adopting under privileged children at Brumby Elementary and cancer patients from Curing Kids’ Cancer. The counselors, teachers, and our social workers are working on the registrations. We plan to adopt 100 kids total! Our goal is to raise $10,000.
When and where we are doing this event?
On December 6th, 2008 at 2:00 pm we will kick off the “Shop with a Greyhound” program. We have partnered with The Avenue of East Cobb to provide our adopted children an opportunity to shop at their establishments. We will have a bus at Pope to transport us to the Avenues. The Pope student body is busy raising a $100.00 per child for Christmas. Greyhound Connection (SGA) will oversee the setup, operation, and clean up of the day’s events. Other Pope clubs and organizations are participating in the set up, shopping, performing, and cleaning up such as Leadership and NHS.
Why are we doing this?
This program is molded after the very successful “Shop with a Hero” program North Star Church developed a few years ago. Pope High School partnered with Kennesaw Mountain High School, who has successfully run “Shop with a Mustang” for many years, this year to begin our very own “Shop with a Greyhound.”
It is our belief that we exist to provide service and leadership to our community. Shop with a Greyhound is a great community service outreach project which yields community service hours.
How you can assist?
Students are collecting money M, W, F during lunch and will be doing several fundraisers such as $2 hat Fridays and t-shirts. We could use your assistance in raising money during lunch or getting donations from organizations. We would love for you to be there to assist in the setup and operation of the day.
