"One Child"

Pope High School has made a commitment to achieve Excellence in: Service & Leadership, Student Achievement, Athletics, and Fine Arts. Within Service & Leadership, our goal is to serve others as leaders of Pope High School and our community.  

What is SWAG?

Last year was our first year for Shop With a Greyhound, or as we fondly call it…. SWAG. We raised $10,000 in donations by students, parents, Partners in Education, local businesses, and the community. Pope had over 200 students volunteer to take 75 underprivileged children shopping at The Avenues East Cobb where they joyously spent a $100 gift card. The day was filled with waffles from National Honor Society, shopping, pizza, fun, and friends!  

When is the big day?

On December 12^th, 2009 at 2:00 pm we will kick off Shop with a Greyhound.  Again, this year we have partnered with The Avenue of East Cobb to provide our adopted children of Clarkdale and Brumby Elementary an opportunity to shop at their establishment. Pope SGA will oversee the setup, operation, and clean up of the day’s events.  Other Pope clubs and organizations are participating in the set up, shopping, performing, and cleaning up, such as Leadership and NHS.     

Why do we do this?

It is our belief that we exist to provide service and leadership to our community. Shop with a Greyhound is a great community service outreach project which yields community service hours and provides the less fortunate with a treat for the holiday season.  

How can you get involved?

Students will be asking for donations before the event through: donation buckets at lunch, football and basketball games, donation letters, visiting local businesses, bagging groceries, and many other ways. Your monetary donation is tax deductible.We are asking every SWAG group, parents, business, and partner to sponsor just "One Child" for $100. Please make checks payable to:
